Local businesses become partners at annual ‘Matchmaker Event’

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville-Metro area is a melting pot for innovative businesses, both big and small. When businesses partner up, the possibilities are endless.

On Wednesday morning, dozens of local companies had the chance to network at the Von Braun Center through Huntsville Utilities’ 3rd Annual Business Matchmaker Event – its biggest to date with more than 45 businesses in attendance.

Organizers say it’s the perfect mix and mingle setting between small and large businesses to connect and expand their production abilities.

Electronic Content Administrator Todd Long says the goal is to match large companies with local minority, women, and veteran-owned small businesses in North Alabama.

“This event will put these large businesses in the same room with these small businesses so they can quite literally shake hands, exchange cards, and say, ‘here’s the information you need to have,” said Long.

Everything from transportation and environmental services to advertising and insurance agencies was represented.

Jasmine Bruno is the owner of P&J Logistics Solutions. She says this was a great way to build relationships and gain new opportunities for her business.

“I feel like sometimes, having these events can help with small business owners like myself. I am a woman-owned business in Huntsville and sometimes going to networking developments like this can help you pick up those relationships with larger companies who may need something that you may have to offer for their services,” said Bruno.

During the event, presentations were also given sharing business skills with local entrepreneurs.
